Arlaux - Champagne from friends of Carsin
Arlaux Champagne house is a family operated winery that produces around 60 000 bottles per year. They are situated in the small village of Vrigny in Petit Montagne de Reims. The Arlaux family started producing champagne in 1826, but they have been living in Vrigny since 1200's.
Juha Berglund met Christine Arlaux-Marechal in early 1990's as both were very enthusiastic about wine and about to become winery owners. Christine also spent the harvest 1994 at Carsin. This is when the idea of a champagne among friends was born.
As Carsin is in the wine region of Bordeaux, we naturally cannot produce champagne. With our grape varieties, climate and traditions we are not able to produce a similar product. Although, in Bordeaux we have our own sparkling wine "Crémant de Bordeaux" that can be white or rosé. Crémant de Bordeaux spends a minimum of 12 months in bottles and at its best it can be a very pleasant sparkling wine, with usually a very affordable price (in France less than 10€).
We haven't started producing Crémant de Bordeaux (not yet anyway), but it's a wonderful thing that we can offer a champagne for our clientele. From our webshop, you can find Arlaux Brut Grande Cuvée Les Amis de Carsin in many forms; normal bottles, magnums and even Jeroboams (3L). We also have a Rosé champagne (my personal favourite) that is a very good aperitif to serve with charcuterie and a Special Réserve, which has matured "sur lies" for 10 years.
If you haven't already, it's time to get to know these wonderful products from our friends, Christine & Pierre. Arlaux champagnes are delicious and elegant, the big bottles are great for bigger parties or as a present for someone special. And don't forget to open a bottle of champagne every now and then just in the middle of a week. Sometimes a bottle of Rosé champagne on a Wednesday evening can help you to get through the rest of the week.. :-)
p.s. If you order your bottles from our webshop before 4.4.2018, the wines are delivered to your door well before Vappu celebrations!
